Hey everyone!

I just purchased DT Register for a conference website, and I found some serious problems with the latest version (2.7.0i, I believe?) Anyway, I tried 2.6.9, which was included for upgrade purposes, and it seems wonderful! I only found one bug so far, and it's not terribly serious (I may even be able to patch it on my own, if it becomes necessary!)

Anyway, just wondering, do people have a version that they feel is so stable and complete that they don't upgrade past it? Do people here find 2.6.9 to be as stable as it seems to me? I would love to be able to stick to it, since I don't seem to need any of the features brought in 2.7.x, but if 2.6.9 has any serious issues, then perhaps you could let me know what you use yourself, if you run a website that handles large numbers of registrants and accepts online payments.

Thanks, all!

Hi!

The 2.7i is stable, but it has non-critical bugs which create some inconvenience rather than fatal errors.
In the next release the most part of them are expected to be addressed.

I've accomplished the full process of registration from creating event to the successful payment and didn't noticed any major troubles.

Hope it helps

P.S. I wouldn't suggest using 2.69 because the gap between them is bigger than the gap between Windows 2000 and Windows 7
The 2.69 is definitely stable, but has restrictions which bother more than 2.7 bugs...

magicdanw - vosto is right... 2.7.0i is stable, although some miscellaneous things are still being addressed that affect select users. We'll be updating the package within a couple hours hopefully and addressing a number of those items. The only one you mentioned in your ticket before you closed it yourself was the inability to save configuration. Go to the Emails tab in config and enter the From Name and From Email. Then you'll be able to save. Thanks!

Thank you! I'll give that a shot. Sorry about closing the ticket before you had a chance to respond - I just found 2.6.9 at that point and saw that it seemed to work very well. I also feel somewhat uncomfortable giving out superadmin accounts to the website, to be honest, since I do not own the website.

Regardless, could anyone verify for me whether the upgrade from 2.6.9 to 2.7.x is about bug fixes, or about new features or a reworked core, or something to that effect? If 2.6.9 works, then that may make more sense for me to use, since with an actively developing version, I do find myself wondering if one bug fix might set off something else, and I can't be upgrading this system frequently while it's in use.

2.6.9 to 2.7 is not about fixes... it's a whole rewrite with the addition of about a gajillion new features and improvements. DT Register has always been actively developed as we are always making improvements. The ongoing updates are usually very painless to move into. You shouldn't have an issue though where one bug is fixed causing something else to break. However, when an issue is discovered, we work quickly to get a resolution. You should watch the announcements forum and get 2.7.0j when released shortly... then use that. If you run into any issue from there, let us know in a ticket. More new things coming still too... the 2.6 series is done so support for 2.6 will become more and more limited as 2.7 progresses further. Thanks.

If you have never used DTRegister, I would go with 2.7, because it represents the future of the product.

If, like me, you are already using 2.6.9 on a couple of sites with several events in progress, unfortunately, I would have to recommend sticking with 2.6.9.

I've tried pretty much every version of 2.7 released and every one has completely mangled my pre-existing events. The names of the events gets set to the date, with no way to change it. I put a lot of time into setting some of the custom fields up, and can't get those working, etc.

My sites are school related, so I'll hold off until summer break to try again.
