TOPIC: Simplified Front-End 'Add Event'

Hi there,

Am really impressed with the look of the new Calendar system in 2.7....

I am contemplating moving away 100% from jevents now...

My wish is.... Could we have a new Joomla Menu Item type for DT Register - providing a very simple 'dumbed down' Add Event form?

This would be for NON-REGISTRATION events and really would just be the basics - Title, Date, Time, Repeat, Location, Category and Link to Joomla Article (I think that's all - could confirm if this idea is accepted - I guess equal to whatever the minimum input info for DT is) - Essentially to give low-IT literacy people a nice friendly simple way to add events to the calendar without being overwhelmed by all the options available.

Then as Super Admin I'd have the option to let certain users know how to access the detailed front-end options and add registration power IF I know they could cope with the complexity

Yes, we've been thinking about such an option. What we'll probably setup is a new config area so admin can designate what features would be given for "simple event management".

That is AWESOME news.... Oh I really hope that can be possible in the near future - Let me know by PM if I can pay a contribution to help speed it up - but I know you guys are working around the clock on things right now as it is......

The way you describe admin as being able to decided which features goes into the 'Simple Event Mgmt' sounds awesome!!!!!!!!

going with this thought, would it be possable to put an " add venue" button in the create event page and not on a separate menu item. Right now there is a dropdown to choose a location, what I need is a button next to that dropdown to add new location.

If that isnt possable, I have an idea for a module ( i am not a strong enough coder to create it) that would basically be a "step's" for front end entering a new event
1. create venue
2. enter event details
3. enter cost
4. submit event
