TOPIC: Event List (registration) Ordering

When you call an event list via menu item you are presented with a list ordered by Category and I can not see a way to order by date - even on the demo site events are ordered by category.

This seems to be a very silly limitation - why doesn't the menu item allow me to select default order and why aren't the headings sortable when viewed on a page?
