I get calls all the time that people can't register for something and it keeps telling them to "Try Again" or "The same transaction ID was just attempted...etc". We all get those calls. In my experience, 95 percent of these calls is related to a bad payment address being applied to the card. I looked at the language file for DT to see if I could put something in there to be more descriptive to reduce the amount of calls I get. There is an Authorize.net errors section and one of the first errors reports I see is:
DT_AUTH_AVS_MISMATCH="The transaction resulted in an AVS mismatch. The address provided does not match the billing address of the cardholder."
This is perfect! HOWEVER, it seems that nobody ever sees that error display to them on screen. I am wondering if the Authorize.net API has changed since this error section was put in? Does anyone else have this same experience? I had 32 calls in one day, all for bad addresses. Everyone tells me that "It doesn't tell me what I did wrong.." etc...
2.5.x editions
It is impossible for me to upgrade to 3.x at the moment, but I bet the same thing is happening there as well. I guess I will open a support ticket to see if this at the very least can get corrected in later releases but ya know.....
Just a stat... in one month I had 147 declines which equated into 70 plus phone calls just to say that you are using the wrong address for the card. Has anyone been able to modify any of the files to properly display the AVS error for the registrant (Authorize.net?)
I did put in a support request for this issue. I did get a response but nothing fixed as of yet. If anyone knows how to get the AVS errors to show for Authorize.net instead of the dreaded "Try Again" button with no explanation as to what is wrong so that I stop receiving calls... that would be great.
