TOPIC: Adding users on backend changes Joomla user rights

I need to point out the fact that I am using DTR 2.8.2a for one site and have been very reluctant to upgrade as I have several registrations running and I have made myself comfortable with whatever issues that thusfar exist and can work around them. But here is a new on for this site that just started for some reason that may still exist in newer versions.
I was adding a user to a registration from the back end... I selected Group and made it to the Billing portion when I realized that I did not enable group registrations for this particular event. So I started over and created an Individual registration for this event. After creating the registration, no records would display for me for any event. After verifying my rights were correct in DT, I noticed that my Joomla user had now Superuser rights AND had been thrown into the Registered type. I removed my self from Registered logged out and back in and everything was good. But now every time I create a backend registration, my rights change and I end up in the Registered group as well as remaining as a Superuser. Very weird and slightly annoying. Again, I am not requiring log in or account/auto creation so it is slightly confusing.
